Correct tongue posture is important for functions like swallowing, speech, and dental health. Swallowing Patterns: Some individuals may have inefficient or incorrect swallowing patterns. Orofacial myofunctional therapists work to correct these patterns to prevent issues like speech problems, dental malocclusions, and jaw pain. Speech Improvement: OMT can be beneficial for individuals with speech disorders or articulation issues. By addressing muscle function and coordination, it aims to improve speech clarity. Orthodontic Support: OMT is sometimes used in conjunction with orthodontic treatment to support the alignment of the teeth and jaw. It may be employed to address issues like tongue thrust, which can affect orthodontic outcomes. Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders: OMT may be recommended for individuals experiencing TMJ disorders or jaw pain. The therapy can help alleviate muscle tension and promote proper jaw function.​

Welcome to Chit Chat Kids, Speech & Language Services. Our office is in Cranston, Riverstone with easy access off Deerfoot Trail.

We have two qualified speech-language pathologists who offer a range of services including screening, assessment, consultation, intervention, and parent training. 

Your child's therapy will be play-based and family-centred. Parental involvement and home programming are an integral part of our service to give your child the best opportunity to overcome speech, language, and communication difficulties.  

Employer insurance may cover Speech-Language Pathology assessments and interventions as an eligible expense for Health Spending. Check your plan description for more details.
